Default HID fogs question

Ok so I have an odd issue and want to see what you guys think.

Installed 6k hid fogs (bulbs, harness, ballasts, etc) and worked for about a week. One day both go out simultaneously. Was kinda chilly for a while so I didn't look into it. Couple months later when it warms up I check it out...did nothing but pull the fuse in the harness and put back in, now they work again. Worked for a few weeks then went back out. Pulled fuse, replaced and working again.

My question is: Is my ground weak? power wire too small? bad relay? I'd like to avoid this goofy fix if I could.

If the fuse is blowing intermittently in the HID relay harness, I'd check to make sure the + wiring downstream of the fuse is intact. Maybe a bare spot occasionally grounding. Could also be a ballast drawing too much power, but I'd think that would be more consistent.

If your power wire leading to the HID harness was insufficient, you'd melt the wire, not blow the fuse. If your ground was bad, you'd just get intermittent operation, not a blown fuse.

Something downstream of the fuse is drawing too much current, so the list of suspects is pretty short.

Just installed my 8k's with the upgraded ballasts. They look great, install was a breeze for the most part. I've noticed that my passenger side is slightly less bright and sometimes goes out after a few seconds. Once I turn everything off and back on, it fixes the issue. I'm calling the vendor back tomorrow since I think and perhaps in your case also that a faulty ballast is to blame.
