I should know this... Right?... but I do not know the answer.... offcially or otherwise.
What is the best Opti in terms of lasting performance for a 1994 (pre-vented) Opti.

That's been the age old deliberation here on the forum. As Dynaspark held the nod for overall approval but is now defunct, I'd have to say go with the OEM replacement. Hopefully others will chime in that have had other experiences.

I would replace it with an A/C Delco OEM unit and get the optional venting kit.

A F.A.S.T. controller and a crank-trigger

I've never owned an LT1/LT4 car, but have seen more than my share of racers having issues with those things. The only person who didn't...replaced it with a crank trigger and a new ECM.

Jury is still out, but here are your choices:

AC/Delco OEM
MSD
Dynaspark (hit and miss these days)
Summit/Jegs, etc White Box (I have a summit on my 383 right now)
Chandler Motorsports

Do a ton of research before you buy.

I installed the Summit White box because: I needed it within a couple days and Their warehouse is 45 min away and Chandler only had an eBay/PayPal option at the time I needed it. So far its been fine, but only have about 100 road course miles on it.

Glad to see taking care of our customers and offering a great product paying off. Thanks for the plug

People are always welcome to call me, though I'm usually only answering phones after 12 or so. During the morning we're getting all the shipments ready for the day and responding to eBay messages\emails.

Still working the factory to get Mitsubishi sensors. Some day!

Default opti issues msd need advice badly.

Hey all,
I recently changed my gm origunal opti after 95k miles. i put an msd non vented with a new msd coil, and wiresw also msd 8.5

my mechanic friend left the 2 compression openings open, i have read on here to block them, to install the way msd says thru intake ...

now im going crazy because my car is getting 6 mpg, back firing ONLY under load in first gear. have tried tuning it with screw but not always works. My computer will not link up to any obd2. but the computer is working i guess .

the car has been well maintained since i bought it. put in around 7k. but before i go and get ripped off by a vette specialist who refuses to listen to all my diagnostics and problem solving steps in hopes he wont have to repeat it all i am begging and will pay for someone who understands and can set the following issues right

Your best bet - Start a new thread.
Describe what you mean by compression fitting.
Post in the florida section - just simply looking for a good vette mechanic in your area.

    Good Luck

95BLKVette, I just checked Chandler Motorsports website and their compatibility listing for the Optispark doesn't list the 94 Corvette. Does the 94 use a different one than the 95-96?

Note: This is my stupid question for today!

So, I take it that they are physically and electrically incompatible?

    Thanks jaa1992!

    Physically incompatible.
You can "fix" the electrical differences, the real early ones have a different connector at the intake side.

I replaced mine with an MSD unit. The first MSD I had went bad quick and stopped firing to 5 of the cylinders, loading them up with fuel, then backfiring shooting flaming ***** of converter flying down the road. No kidding! MSD replaced it with upgraded pieces and I have not had a problem since. I went with the vented option which was no big deal to put in.

BY "These DO NOT fail", do you mean that they do not fail even if the water pump leaks onto them?

No, are you kidding? They don't fail, if kept dry, for a long, long time.
