I want to troubelshoot my 96 LT1 for I believe an O2 sensor issue and checking my temperature setpoint for turning on the cooling and making adjustments if necessary. Any particular scanner to use? Also will a scanner for a C4 work on a C5? Thanks (ps not sure if scanner is the correct word to use)

I have ordered autotap with the gm enhancement. It ran about $300 but it works on all vehicles 96 or newer and with the gm enhancement you get all the available data.

HP tuners scanner works on the 96 and 97 LT1 engines but you cannot change the program with HP tuners. The program I use for tuning 96 and 97 LT1's is Jet Dynamic tuning software.
