ok guys ill try with a full tank... however as for the baffle idea this never happened before it sat so i don't think that is an object that would of failed from non-use.
ill also run a couple bottles of heet in case it is a little water

A couple of ideas. You could buy yourself a gasket and take the pump out and see for yourself. It could be that the sock somehow is not right and obstructing things, IDK. Just a theory or more likely a SWAG. OTOH, you can buy a Walbro pump to replace your stock unit to make it more bulletproof.
