Default Cold engine dies when backing up.

When I start my cold engine, drive my Vette backwards off the driveway and come to a halt, the engine dies. Before I do this, I let the engine idle for about 30 sec., this is also the time my WB needs to warm up. While backing up, turning the steering wheel and coming to a halt, the engine dies. My AFR shows about 12.6-12.8. BTW, I have a 6 sp. and can sidestep the brake/gas pedal to keep the engine alive. I know this isn't a solution to my problem, but at the moment I don't know which one of my tables I should alter.

It doesn't do this when warmed up. For more info about my engine, see sig…

Air/fuel sounds OK. I would either up your cold idle RPM or increase your cold idle spark adder.

Target idle is set to 1100 rpm. I could raise that about 200 rpm…
Do you mean "Coolant temp. compensation spark vs. load"?? This adds 2° to the 30° I have already in my main spark advance table.

I can try one at a time and see what happens.

Well, I raised the cold idle to 1300 rpm. I also added 2° spark advance to my cold idle, but nothing helps. Today it even died on me with the engine temp being around 110°.
Someone know what else can be done to improve my situation??

Ok, let’s check some other areas. What are you IAC counts when the engine warmed up at an idle? The counts should be around 10 with a warmed up engine at idle. If not the IAC may not be able to respond quickly enough to a change in engine speed and the engine may stall. You want the minimum idle speed close to your commanded idle speed. Example, if your warm idle RPM is set for 800 RPM you would like to see the IAC count at 5 to 10 to hold this RPM. If the IAC counts are too high the it can stall easier. What is your warm idle RPM?

Brian, at the moment I can only say my warmed up idle is around 1000 rpm. I remember setting my IAC counts to about 30, but I'll hook up my Datamaster and see what else might be wrong.

OK, I found out what the problem was.
First off, it wasn't my cold idle, nor not enough cold spark advance, nor my IAC counts being to high. It was my gas tank only having about 4 gallons of gas in it.
Never thought it wouldn't be enough, but with the Walbro GSS307, driving backwards and making a sharp turn; I didn't have enough fuel pressure and the engine died.

Brian, thanks for trying to help with some really good ideas....

Thanks
Arnold
