CPU differences
I know the replaceable chip is different between years and setups but is the basic unit the same [ pin #'s , internal electronics ]?? The years I'm concerned with is the "91" cpu interchangable with 87,88,89 or all years??

I had thought GM had Motorola have a special mask in the CPU for them. It is based on a 68HC11 though doubt if the same functionally in every way as the micro code my have some special features or I might be completly wrong LOL Scan and tune section here and TGO might be a good place to ask this question.

Are you asking about the CPU chip inside the whole ECM or the ECM as an assembly interchangeable? The cpu is a single computer chip one of quite a few inside the ECM so possibly I misunderstood what you are asking for.
