Pulled the 87 out of storage to get it emission tested and tabs for the year. Ran fine down to the test center after a couple of restarts of the vehicle driving back home the temp gauge for the climate controls starts flashing madly. Hit the brake pedal to stop at a light and the dash goes almost completely out the door locks unlock and lock the dash lights come back up but the car does not stall.
Dash lights are tied to the TAIL circuit thru the headlight switch. The PDLS are thru the COURTESY circuit. Dunno why they both are going crazy. Flashing climate control I think is telling you it has a problem and I think is on another circuit. Dunno what they all have in common except maybe a ground.
Check to see if its throwing any codes. Maybe it will tell ya something. Hopefully someone with a lot more knowledge will chime in.
Check G201, a ground for all the devices and more that you found misbehaving. This is near the LH side of the steering column behind the instrument panel. Look for corrosion, loose nut, etc.
There are two wires on G201, one goes to the a/c heater controller and the other goes to a large splice in the wiring (S213) where 27 electrical device ground wires come together. If G201 is ok, then you will have to trace grounds to S213 when the dash and other things fail.
You can only trace problems when they are acting up.
I am awaiting the diagnostic soon. Thanks for all the great feedback though. Why is it whenever you leave your car at the shop you have flashes of Ferris Bueller??

Update: Car went in no electrical issues found outside of moisture and that is not shocking. Proceeded with this years upgrades: New fuel pump, new intake gaskets, new fuel injectors Flow Matched of course Bosch. Full tune up with all the goodies. Everything checked out front to back and it's running like a champ.
One tiny issue to work out. After car is up to temp and driving around town made a stop at the store for maybe 15 min. came back headed out got stuck at a light and after about a minute or so of sitting at the light she just stalled. Started right back up but stalled none the less. Idle is around 600 RPM at idle after the tune up when hot. Car was fine after and never did it again until the next day same scenario. Has done it about a half dozen times since the first time and after a re start she is fine.
