Default 95 a/c cold until engine warms??

2 problems I think.
#1 Start car cold (outside air is 62F) & set a/c to 60F.
thermometer inserted into dash vent.
Push panel control (not auto) inserted thermometer drops to 53F.
When engine water temp heats to 160F thermometer reads 61F,
when engine water temp is 180F thermometer reads 65F.
when engine water temp is 192F reading is 67F.
(Blend door not closing??)

#2 Push auto button (a/c still set to 60F) with water temp at 192F and inserted thermometer climbs to 82F. (auto control sensor??)

I can live with out the auto control (problem #2) unless it is an easy sensor change. But would like to solve problem #1.

Has been this way since acquiring the car 2 years ago.
Any help or ideas would be appreciated. Thanks, Jim

When you dial in 60 at the Controls, Inside and Outside thermistors are overridden and it should pump out the best it can with the Low Pressure Switch cycling off the compressor to prevent the Evaporator from becoming a big ice cube. It doesn't matter what the outside air temp is (except for when the coolant fans crankup) or the Coolant Temp. I'd start by looking at operating pressures so hookup a Manifold Gage Set or go to a Shop to see what they are. With an ambient of 60 degrees, the Low should be around 30 psi which would give something in the 40's out of the vent. Starting in the 50's and climbing above ambient is probably a 2 fold problem - less than a full charge and a temp door flopping around. You can check the Temp Door by removing the Blower Module on the left side of the Evaporator Case and a good shop should know to take a peek at it without charging you an arm and leg (with some checking for free because they can ****** your first born to fix all that needs to be fixed).

Thanks for the response, I have ordered a shop manual to get the under dash opened.
