Default LT4 swapped with LS9

Hey guys I sold my c5 z06 in december and was saving up for a c6 z06 but as I was browsing for cars and came across a 1996 Shinoda Grandsport so I kind of fell in love with the car and bought it =) No regrets. Handles really nice and I love the look more then my z06 thought I do miss it as well ;(. My goal is to make this GS compete with the best of modern day supercars. I guess I would like to get around 600whp on around a $20,000 budget starting sometime next year. I live in Souh Florida(boca raton) so I was wondering what are some of the best and most trusted high performance tuners shops around here for such a project. Some engines I am considering are the LS6 LS7 and LS9. I believe with the LS9 I am going to over shoot my 20k mark but if its possible why not. IF the LT4 can possibly reach similar hp levels for alot less I would also consider keeping it due to the fact that the car would stay more authentic. Please fill free to give me your thoughts and opinions on what route I should take for my goal. I do love the sound of the LT4. I assume for 600whp I would have to upgrade the whole powertrain.

Any Vette rearend will be hit and miss, the ZF trans should be Ok.
You can get 600NA out of it but youll have to increase cubes, large head large solid roller etc or SC it. 600 is a tough nut to crack.

you could do a stock ls6 swap for under 10 grand. that should give you over 400 hp, assuming you put headers in along with it. i think you could get another 200 hp out of an ls motor for ten grand? or atleast close

Id bet a 383 or 402 stroker, AFR 225 head solid roller in the 240ish range, ported intake headers etc could just about get him to the 600 mark.

Heads and cam LS7; 315's in front 17x11 GS wheels and 335's 17x12 (widened GS wheels) in rear; upgraded suspension (springs, shocks, larger sway bars,); upgraded rear end and transmission.

You'll additionally lose significant curb weight and achieve the performance and handling to run with modern benchmark cars. In fact, you may surpass them...

Remember who gave you the tip when you are ready to sell the LT4. I'm in Boynton.

i would prefer a parts list from a shop that knows what i would need. I would buy all the stuff from them, install them myself and take it back for tunning.

Now its rwhp? Youll need some forced induction to pull that one off.

Will cost you 30k just to start a ls9. 20k is about what I'm spending on mine. It can be done if you do most the work.

Most of what you read online about any company will be negative, happy customers rarely bother to post.

You rarely see people randomly post, Im still happy with brand XXX.

There will be failures eventually on most mfrs, more volume the more chance of failure. Many times its installer error/bad tuning so take it with a grain of salt.

Problem with the LTX series of engine is small bore stock block, lack of good cyl heads and limited RPM (7000 because of the computer) to make that kind of power. An L98 car would be much easier with the availiable aftermarket big bore blocks and roll deck heads. Any moron could make 600RWHP easily with a 12* or 15* 421 or 434.

No so easy with an LTX. Limited to right around 400 inches and 4.06 bore.... 23* cyl heads that don't flow that great to begin with are now pinched off even more....

I can make 500RWHP pretty easy with 383 LTX (or bigger), using off the shelf 23* heads and a mech roller. You'll have to adjust valves every 6months or so depending on how much you drive it and you'll have to remove the Altenator to get that drivers side rocker cover off....

I can build pretty much the same LTX engine with a big aggressive hyd roller cam - just barley short of the 500RWHP mark (similar to the engine I built for my 92).

Both of these are 10-15K motors.

None of these engines are something your going to want to drive everyday.... I mean I drive my 92 on the street alot, the AC, cruise, ASR and power everything still works.... but it eats gas, is so fast at the track had to install a roll bar (and now it's not enough roll bar), I have to then wear a helmet & fire suit and it is really fricken loud. It also destroys rear ends pretty easily which gets to be a real expensive problem after the first couple of times.

If your willing to have a car you can't make more than one pass at the track without getting sent home or willing live with a pesudo race car on the street I'll be happy to key you in on what I have.... I personally wouldn't want to add another 100RWHP to it.
Will
