Can't use my A/C because car goes up into the 240's quickly on a hot day in traffic, car has new coolant and coolant is full and both fans are working.
T-stat is realitively new, but was wondering if anybody ever had one not open all the way?
Or could my WP be going south?
How old is the rad? It might be time for a new one since the rad is what transfers the heat away. The water pump may not be performing to the best of its ability. Sometimes with cooling systems when you replace one thing it causes problems in other parts of the system. Sometimes best to replace rad, water pump, and even hoses all at once. Then you know that the system is working properly.
WP is probably OK. I have had similar problem and is a classic symptom of a bad stat. I would get a LT1 stat and go from there. If it does not open enough it will cause you problem.
After that I might look at the radiator but they usually go bad slower over time.
The other side of the coin is a blow head gasket. You could get a kit from a parts store to check for exhaust gases in the coolant.
The Hoover might have picked up something it should not have, but I do not think so.
Going to replace the T-stat, if that does not work. PColt you owe me $13 for this.
Last month Advance had a big sale, now all their parts are really high, bought a window regulator for daughters car at Rock for $84, Advance wanted $193.
