What does it take to reprogram the ECU to have the fans kick on at 180 and 190? If it takes a shop, any recommendations for a shop in the north Dallas area? If the ECU is reprogrammed, does that keep the Check Engine (or whichever trouble light) from clicking on?

Thanks.
What year is your's ?? I'm in Houston don't know anybody in Dallas ..Call Corvettes of Dallas ask they might know somebody there ..there's more Corvette shops in dallas that in Houston that will be a start.. You can send your Ecm to somebody or just drop it off don't need the Vet. to do it ..I did the hole 10 yards to mine but turning the fans on sonner is easy thing to do and it will help some if all in good shape..The 96 is set up to run @235 so unless you make fan changes it gona be 235 witch is ok if that's all it goes to ..Mine just worn out Rad. and need just to be redone cleaned Etc. Theres lot's you can do take the top off (the shroud) and clean it out blow the A/c condencer out ...That may help ..Go to radar502 you can pic of mine..If you can find a cheaper Rad. that i did it not that much to chang it over to one that will run under 200 with air on... I love mine..Done that..Hope this helps...

Thanks Radar502. Mine is an LT4. I read through the Tune/Scan section, which is not much help for the OBDII cars.

There is a dyno tune place in McKinney, where I live, so I am going to see if they will make the change for a reasonable price. Running at 235 probably does not impact performance, I just think cooler is better once it starts getting hot outside.

Also, the disparity between the analog and digital temp meters makes me trust neither. I basically just watch the oil temp.

The local shop came back with $200 to program new fan trigger points, which I guess is towards the bottom of your range. If they had said $50, I would go in and have it done. $200 to change something that GM did not see as a problem has me holding off. Is this something more involved then just changing a couple of data points in a file?

I plan on talking with them about a dyno tune, and will ask them to include the fan changes at the same time. Hopefully get a better deal.

I don't think it's worth it . I had mine retuned .It had some boltons few and ye ha after the tune.Yes I would do it all at the same time... I look and see if I have the name of the shop in Baton Rouge.. I redone the retire cooling Sys. on mine so I had to have the fans redone..If not broke don't fix it.. Let me know how the tune comes out..
