engine & trans oil question ?
just got 1992 model. is it ok to run 10w40 syn. blend ? original book said 10w30 ? also want to replace trans fluid. originla was dexron 2e. can dexron 3 be used or mixed with dexron 2 ? is ther an additive i need to use. any input would be appreciated. im a newbe.

Thought 5w30 was what the owners manual recommends. Depending on temperature and engine mileage/wear you may be more inclined to run a different oil.
It is pretty easy to kill a transmission with wrong kind or amounts of fluid. Read the back of a dexron bottle it should tell you what is compatible with whatever. I'm a pretty big auto DIYer but even in these tight economic times when it comes to transmission maintenace - I pay $50 for a fluid and filter change.
