Bought a nonrunning 88 corvette had been in storage 6+ years after hitting gaurdrail with rear quarter, car was driven into garage, battery disconnected and sat. The car will start run 2 seconds and die I have spark I believe it is starting on the cold start injector and the main are not firing.
Parts I have replaced are fuel pump and sock, fuel filter, mass air flow, temp sensor to ecm, ignition module, ignition switch on steering colum under dash, and the throttle position sensor. If I unplug the two wires comming out of steering colum from the key pellet it will not crank, reconnect car cranks runs 2-3 seconds and dies. The odd thing is every once in awhile the car starts and runs great till you turn it off and then will only crank till it cools down overnight, then will go back to start run 2 seconds and die.
code check shows a 12 and a 46
What have I overlooked, seems like VAT control module is not giving signal to ecm to fire the injectors is there a way to bypass or remove the VAT completely, I thought that if VAT was a problem the engine would not crank. Any and all help is appreciated even if it does not help with this problem I may be able to use in the future with another.
I will be testing the injectors as soon as I can get a ohm meter even though I do not believe they are the problem because of how well the car runs when it wants to.
I don't know if this is your problem, but 6 year old gas can't be good. Make sure you get that stuff out of the tank and put some fresh 91 in. It might make a difference.

Tank was dry cleaned out when I did the fuel pump and sock Put 5 gals. of shell V Power in it. Like I said when on the rare occasions it does start it runs great, only has 10,000 miles on rebuild
Figured it out, so happy, tore the dash apart and found if i push on electrical plug to the VAT module it starts every time, done for the night, it's Miller Time, time to celebrate guess I'll walk over to the Bar and have one.
Will fix proper tomorrow after work.
