Default Exhaust setup

In the process of doing my D44 swap, I found a rotted out exhaust system.

My 1988 had a stock cat and "GT style" Muffler delete. I figured now might be the time to upgrade to a better system, and I'm considering the Borla Stingers.

What do you guys use to replace the cat with a pipe? Just get a local exhaust shop to weld up a test pipe, or can i order one somewhere?

Also, how bad is the drone with borla?

If you're gonna have a shop do the install, just have them use their own parts for the cat delete.

AutoAnything.com has tons of exhaust kits and you can save 15% off the order and get free shipping if you use this Tell-a-Pal discount coupon they gave me when I bought my Corsa Catback a couple weeks ago. Coupon expires tonight, 30 June, I believe so hurry.

Hope you can take advantage and save some $$$.

Here is one place to purchase a test pipe. The exhaust system is not welded, it is all bolted together so you could do this yourself.

Every shop I have ever been to/asked will not touch exhaust systems that don't have a cat. They can get find some 2000 dollars for tampering with them, besides replacing them with new ones.

A shop I called wouldn't even bend me a true dual setup. In order for it to be "legal" it had to be a front y-pipe into a single cat, back into a rear y-pipe. He wouldn't even do true duals with each channel having their own cats. Had to be just like factory.

That's here in Central Wisconsin.

Just found out this 15% off with free shipping coupon DOES NOT EXPIRE....If you can wait until next week, and are still in need of a discount, fire away!

great to hear. It says that has a 3" inlet/outlet though, do you guys run adapters? I thought most aftermarket systems ran 2.5", and isn't the front y-pipe 2.5"?

I have Corsa exhaust on one of my C4's. it is awesome. No drone. Fit and look great!

Had 3" B&B's......for 1 day. Terrible drone.

I also have stock 1992 exhaust w/ the resonator on my 1986, and it looks and sounds great too. It'll have a nice sound with no cats. I Put the stock exhaust behind inexpensive Hedman headers. With a small cam it sounds just nice for a driver.

That's my experience so far... installed both myself at home.

Drone is the enemy here.....really it's horrible with some systems, but not with the Corsa's.

Totally happy! I can tell you that ordering a Corsa system is gonna be slow from anywhere, MidAmerica, Ecklers, etc., they are all backordered, at least for my particular model of exhaust (Corsa CatBack Performance Exhaust - Sport - 14115).

The difference is with AutoAnything.com, I not only got that discount, but when I complained that the delivery was taking a long time, they refunded 10% of my money for my inconvenience. Who else does that? They've got my business for sure!!!

Thumbs up to Tony A. for a great deal!

Ordered my exhaust the 16th of July and got it the 25th, even though they said it wouldn't ship out until Aug 1.

Still trying to decide what to do for the cat, I'm not sure if i should spend $90 and get the test pipe, or just suck it up and spend the ~300 on a high flow. I'm emissions exempt, so all I'm worried about is sound. What's the noise difference like with a test pipe vs a cat? All of my cars have either had high flows or stock cats.

You can get two HIGH FLOW magnaflow bullet cats from summit for 160 bucks. Not too terrible on the wallet, good on the power, and great on the enviroment (the one you're part off)

There is also this Pypes set; It includes a pair of bullet cats plus band clamps for 190 bucks.

Check it out http://www.summitracing.com/parts/PYE-CVM10K/

http://www.summitracing.com/search/b.../?autoview=SKU

I live in an emissions exempt county but have chosen to run cats not because I care too much about carbon dioxide emissions and "global warming" but because of nitrogen oxide, an irritant to my mucus membranes!

Depends on the motor and the size of the pipe plus the configuration...

I had a stock config and it was fine, but when I went catless duals she is insanely loud.

Running a stock L98/700R4 for right now. I have a Corsa catback. In the future I'm planning on headers + front y pipe. Going crate motor hopefully this winter, planning on a 383.

THat pypes set has cats for an LT-1, correct? I've got a single cat between y-pipes.
