I have a 1996 corvette with an lt4 engine, Just recently the starter has not worked right. When I turn the key there is a clicking noise from the starter (I think its from it hitting the fly wheel). If I turn the key a bunch of times real quick I finally get the engine to turn over. I got the car when I was making good money, things have changed and I am hopping that this fix is something I can do (I have done work on my car before so I have some mechanical ability) and hopefully for cheap.

sounds like solenoid or -more rare- starter main connection from solenoid. that is a denso, and there are many trds here about them, how to rebuild solenoid cheap. also sounds a bit like low voltage, or amperage, like dead cell in battery, battery cables not tight, corroded, etc.
if you get the click you are lucky. tracing down all the options is a job.
