Default Fabricated Sheetmetal Valve Covers

Curious who has them, and can I see some pictures?

I believe my covers leak, and I want to replace them. I have always liked the sheetmetal look, but I am wondering if the ebay one's are too cheap or not.

Do you have centerbolt or perimeter bolt heads? It is more difficult to find sheetmetal centerbolt valve covers.

I looked at numerous aftermarket covers several years ago, and wound up going back stock with ~0.375" spacers to get the clearance for the valvetrain. My car still looks fairly stock...

You can find them for centerbolt heads, but be careful that they don't hit the windshield motor. The valve cover need to be stepped in in the ends or clearance issues might result. Also clearance issues might happen where the a/c bracket is. I had to get longer bolts, and belt and clearance the bracket a little bit on my 1990.

They look awesome though!!!

There is alot of conflicting infor on the China made Ebay sheetmetal rocker covers.

I have Moroso. Expensive but well worth it. Personally I think the old 4 bolt style bolt set up is better than the newer center bolt. The new AFR heads will support either type of cover thou.

Current with breather tubes welded on both covers.

Before I welded the breathers on both covers.

Video of it running.

L98 based cars won't have the altenator problems LTX cars do, but the wiper motor is a big problem on the L98.

I think perimeter is the way I will go. I ended up selling my stock covers with my stock motor.

What are your covers worth, and what info have you heard about the China made covers?

Thanks.

Considered some Morosos or somethign similar to put the breathers where I want them.

Wouldnt buy cheapie valve covers. Some have had luck many havent on being flat/sealing/cracking when tightening. Pay for what you get.

Mine are Spectra brand - got them cheap from the "bay". They fit with no issues on my 86 and come off with out incident. I want ribbed ones to match the Stealth Ram when I install it so I will be shopping again soon.

I think those look pretty good. Any more closer pics of the covers? I wonder if they will work on an 88 with a/c.

Are you selling them?

I'll take some pics for you in the AM - sorry I was busy today. I'm willing to sell - let me shop tonight. I'll also measure out my old AC compressor and I'll let you know how the fit would be (my remote coil is mounted there right now). And yes, lack of AC in south Louisiana sucks right now....

Mine are Moroso PN 68326. $370.00 retail.

You have to drill holes and weld breather tubes or use push in grommets for breathers (and/or PCV).

If you had to pay someone to weld the tubes in that would cost $50-$100. If you went with the push in grommeted stuff you can do that yourself easily with the proper hole saw.

First hand knowlege of the China covers, is hit and miss. I've personally seen maybe 10 sets with varying degrees of quality. I haven't seen anything that would make me want to take the chance on them.... Even the best ones I have seen are no where near as nice as the Moroso's I have.

As far as what I have heard. There was a good thread on Yellow Bullet a couple of months ago where people who had them gave opinions and listed the brand, cost where they got them ect. A couple of links to (so far) known good brands.

Skip White, Whitesperformance sells those specters dirt cheap and he has a good write up on the fitment and quality on his webpage. I think he sells them on bay, also... they are like 50 bucks. I was looking at them but was concerned with fitment. I am glad to see them on another Vette and may purchase them. And they look very nice...

That's where I picked them up - but the breathers cost me just about the same.
He is selling some ribbed ones that I am considering so they match this:

Paint inside the ribs black. Not sure what to do about PCV and breathers - maybe plumbing to a catchcan with breather?
