Make sure you hold the bracket in place before adding a/c.
Some water pumps do not allow the a/c bracket to seat properly, check for gaps at the head water pump and block mounting points

My guess is that the "mechanic" broke it when he installed it. I was tightening the a/c on my '91 and heard a little "pop" when I was tightening the bolt that holds the bracket to the head.

That probably weakened the bracket, the the other breaks came later.

I have headers, and never used the other 2 braces....no problems yet, after 3 years, on a highly modified engine.

i think that too, i took my hooker header down today and hammered tube#4 a bit so i could weld the extention on it to be able to use that support bracket again, i just dont want it to break again, im gonna have to buy the other one that bolts to the waterpump bolt as i dont have it!!
