I'm still in the process of fixing my "no blow" horn. I'm having problems finding the "horn switch" (AC Delco part no. D1774A). My question is:
if the HORN SWITCH / CONNECTION mechanism in the steering wheel
is broken, will that prevent the "horn relay" from working. I'm asking this
because after setting the "security alarm" using the power door lock
switch and opening the door from the inside while standing outside the
car, I was told the car alarm should go off, but it doesn't.
Donne, I think it will not trip the relay -ground the relay- when the horn is pushed. but the security, vats, uses the same horns and relay, so that should work IF the relay is in the circuit and if the horn fuse if not blown, if the horns are both working when they get 12v, ie, jumper wire.
on my 91 the horn/security fuse is in the extra fuse blocks under the glove box. location should be listed in your owner's manual.
I finally analyzed and fixed my horn* after replacing a good relay, checking and cleaning grounds, etc. not sure your horn butoon is same design.
