If the vacuum side is working correctly then the switch on the clutch/brake pedals is most likely the problem.

Complete a good inspection of your vacuum lines...even a crack or a broken nipple can lead to problems

Make sure the vacuum check valve is not damaged. It's under the passenger side fuel rail cover.

Carefully check the vacuum hoses to the servo around the battery, particularly the one going through the firewall to the brake pedal. Both my C4s needed all these hoses replaced.

STL94LT1 also makes a good point - I've seen the nipples on that valve become so brittle they break with just a light touch.

Good luck!

Well these posts cover the common and simple items. Just want to add that the switch on the brake pedal is a 3 part switch. You realy got to get it out to verify and check. (TCC, cruise and brake light).

Is this stick or auto?
