Just bought a '95 coupe yesterday and drove it 250 miles back home. I was surprised to find that the radio would not power down after I turned off the ignition. I also learned that the horn and cigarette lighter socket don't work, although there is power to the horn. Could there have been some "rewiring" going on here??? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
The radio is supposed to work like that.
But as soon as you open the drivers door, it should go off.
If you don't open the door, it will stay on for approx. 7-10 minutes (can't remember exactly), then shut off.
No power to the horn and lighter socket could be a fuse issue.
Thank you, but I tried that. Went into the grocery store last night and forgot to "turn off" the radio power. It was still running when I came back to the car. I'll check the fuses on the other items. Again, thanks for the response.
What happens a lot is people get lazy and don't want to look for a new accessory power. They will wire the constant power to the accessory wire for the stereo. They are both 12 volts. The accessory power just tells the stereo when to turn on. So, since it's hooked up to constant power, it thinks it needs to be on all the time. I spent an hour last weekend upside down in the passenger seat looking for an accessory power. It tends to be a PITA.

Sounds like a job for my friendly Chevy Service Dept.
Thank you....
Oops....it's a stock Bose system.

Check the door switches. Sounds like the button is not popping out (drivers side) when the door is opened. If it does not, the CCM will still think the door is closed and keep the delayed bus energized. Door switch might need to be pulled out and some lubrication possibly added.
Do the door lights ever go on when the door is opened?

Colt here may be on the right track. If there was a problem with the Courtesy lighting to PO may have pulled the fuse. In order to have a radio he would have had to direct wire the radio to the battery or other always on source. Killing the courtesy lights would also kill the cig lighter its on the same circuit. Not sure about the horn tho.
