lowered the front and rear of the vette a while back. The front is good but the back seems a little higher then I like. I got the lowering kit so the longer bolts are being used. I tightened the bolt up another half inch.
The bottom of the bolt to the bottom of the bolt is 1 inch and 1/8th..
Anyone know there measurements to tell me what is a good length? I want it pretty low but don't know what to put it at. Some would say, lower it till you like it. If that was the case, it would be sitting on the tires. I heard it takes the car time to settle. So I would like to know if anyone could measure theres or know off hand??
I just had my alignment done. Would that not mess it up? It was at 3/4 and I did not like it..How do I lower it lower than it was? tighten or loosen the bottom nut?
On mine I have an inch of threads showing and that's as low I can go with my hillbilly driveway. I'm scraping now if I'm not careful. I just did mine. I'm thinking about putting coilovers on the front. I don't like the stagecoach spring. It probably works well but I just don't like it. As far as your alignment......I would get it redone if I lowered it another 5/8". I know that sux but it's cheaper than tires and you should get a discount because it's just a 2 wheel alignment. They don't say which two. BTW lowering the nut (reducing the amount of threads) will lower the rear.
I always thought loosening the but would lower the rear but I started a thread asking and it came out 50/50..
About half of them are wrong. They ship LONGER bolts with the kit. The longer you make it the lower it goes. Move the nut towards the ground to lower it........for sure.
sweet. Saved me some info tracking time. I will go back out and loosen what I just tightened. It was at 3/4 then I tightened it to 1 1/8..so now I will go to 1/4...I want to slam it almost
You can also look above the spring, in the center, by the differential and where it bolts up there are probably some shiny metal shims there. They are about 4" long and about an eighth of an inch thick. If you were to remove them the ride gets lower also........if you need or want a little more.
I must have missed something, you had it at 3/4" ,you raised it to 1 1/8", you're lowering the "but" down to a 1/4", cause you want it slammed, and you dont think you'll need an alignment, allrighty then

I didn't mean I dont need an alignment. I should have lowered it to the height I wanted BEFORE I have my alignment. Of course I will go and get another one.
When I did the front I cut the wedges yes. I did not know the rear had them. The kit came with 2 bolts for the rear and 2 thinner wedges for the front.

Take it back to the alignment shop and have then check the alignment, do not tell them that you made a change. They should compare current reading to the last readings, if it a big difference, then get an alignment.
haha good idea. I did just lower the nut to 1/4 to the very bottom of the bolt. I guess I shouldn't slam the rear because the front is as low as I can get it without tearing into it again. Thanks guys for the help!
