Hey guys...I'm helping a brother out here with his 93 LT-1 overheating problem (my LT-5 isn't the same animal)....which color antifreeze goes into the 93 LT-1 cars????
Thanks
Before you start swapping fluid colors, you should do a flush of the system. Possibly an acid flush, but I have never done one of these myself and I know some people feel that it can damage something. One of the reasons it might be overheating is a blockage in the system.
I honestly would suggest.....no coolant...
I used to have a slight overheating problem in the old L98. I used a product called Water Wetter. Just that and plain water. Distilled is best. It dropped my temps down by about 15 degrees on daily driving.

I know for sure that up thru the 94 the green stuff goes in (as was the original coolant).
And I beleive 95 and up (I think) used the Dex-cool orange stuff.

One problem with that is your setting yourself up for some major rust problems.
I use the universal yellow coolent that can be mixed with any other coolant..Says on the bottle that its safe for use with aluminum. This is what I used for years and when the old motor was torn down there was no signs of any galvanic erossion or deterioration to the aluminum of any kind....WW
This antifreeze thing is a bag of worms. Here is what Prestone says about their green antifreeze on their website:
Prestone® Extended Life Antifreeze/Coolant is compatible with ANY antifreeze/ coolant – regardless of color – for use in ALL makes and models of cars and light duty trucks. This patented formula provides a high degree of performance durability and carefully balanced protection against temperature extremes and rust corrosion of all cooling system metals, including aluminum.
This says 'ALL' cars and includes aluminum. Prestone's Dex-Cool says to be use in cars that 'require' Dex-Cool. What happened to the 'all' cars statement for the green stuff?

This bag-o-worms has been beaten to death - why post this info? The OP knew not to mix the flavors/colors...he just want to know what it supposed to be in a specific year.
Read the green print........... Prestone says you can mix their green antifreeze with any color you want. No problem. If that caused any harm to your cooling system they could be held liable and sued.
