HOW FAST ARE YOU???


Like someone said above, talk is cheap...I run into so many BS'ers at the local cruise spots its not even funny, you have to take it with a grain of salt and dont worry about what some idiot thinks.
Good luck on your race with these guys, if you can....do it at the dragstrip, for a few different reasons, it will be the most fair way to race...Second and most important, its the safest place to race.

When did these little economy cars become some kinda icon for performance? First and foremost , I dont care how many sub 10 second Civics there are out there, FRONTWHEEL DRIVE is only good for commuter cars NOT performance cars, period. Secondly you can completely gut a Civic , add engine size and a couple power adders and you MAY have a pretty quick car ........ you can do the same to a Vette and have an insanely fast car. These little cars can be very fun and quick , but to spend ridiculous amounts on them just to get them into the 13's when they could have gone out and bought a rear drive V8 car to begin with that will turn 13's right out of the box makes no sense.
Now Supras (Hupras) and RX7's and 300Zx turbos are a completely different ball game . There are some fantastic ones rolling around out there but again......without even going to power adders Vettes can EASILY produce 500 rwhp N/A.......then start turbocharging etc........the numbers get VERY big. Some of these Japanese sports cars even have multiple power adders to acheive what they do. Dont get me wrong , there are some very fast and very nice ones out there, but for the money , they STILL cant compete with AMERICAN cubic inches.
Vipers, well , again, a whole 'nother story.......
Bottom line , just go out and have fun and be smart about it , dont talk poopiee , there is ALWAYS some faster out there........and the TRUE gage of how HIGH PERFORMANCE a car is can be measured on a road course or even an autoX course........there is more to sports cars than a straight line. :seeya

Not every supra after dyno leave oil at the wall. Turbo cars must be driven with care, must be cool down after hard drive cause failure turbo’s bearings. Perhaps that supra has blown head gasket and/ or dead turbos? I drove last summer GMC typhoon. It blows oil like hell. Went from 0-60 in 8 seconds :cry
It has dead motor and it definitely was not supra engine. :smash:

But not all. So please not mix people and cars...
My mitsu colt has 5.5 second flat from 0 to 60 MPH, it is faster 0-60 that my when was stock '88 vette. It is faster 0-60 that stock early LT1 with auto tranny. I still have not touched engine and tranny (in vette tranny was repaired 4 times! :smash: ).
For about $1000 (with labor) I can swap engine, tranny and ECM from first gen mitsu eclipse turbo and with that mods have car that went from 0-60 in 4.5 sec flat. :lol: A lot of Hp and fun for $1000. Still questions??? :D
I still believe, there is a lot of another good fast cars.

I like my vette (that my second vette, and before I had camaro and firebird too), I like it sound, it looks, I like it Atari LCD display and that raw power of 5.7 at start. But at 5000 RPM I like it less, and when I try turn fast on curvy road I like in less, and when I want hard stop I like it less.
Vette has extremely costly suspension but, when I drove Porsche 928 and next I drove my vette I was very disappointed with vette suspension. Drive once BMW M5 or Porsche 928, you will see difference in handling.
I talking about rear driven cars. When you will drive AWD as mitsu Evo 6 or subaru impreza WRC difference in handling will be amazing!
I do not think that guys from magazines as Car & Driver or Motor Trend (I have every issue of Motor Trend since 1993) wrote poopie. When they write that car A has 0-60 in 5.8 sec, it had at that test really 5.8 sec.
Once again: I still thinking there are a lot good cars, not only vettes.
And sorry to say: there are cars better that vette :cry .
Perhaps vette has best $/performance ratio. That may be true.
