No smack, no disrespect just a statement which could easily be refuted if someone knew the details.
They were installed back on 12/17/11 per the thread, Back on 2/8/12 these were headed for the Dyno, Originally Posted by 1989TransAm View Post "We are waiting for one other person who is replacing their top end. Realize people are busy but given the fast pace the build and fitting, and installation took, the 3 month delay between 'they are ready for Dyno', and no comment seemed adequate to support the assessment that perhaps they weren't performing.
I am happy to see anyone trying to make parts for these things, especially if they can pass California smog.
Well there's other cars like mine are trying to get ready for the Dyno too. I have fully ported TFS heads needed to be install when I get them back from Dr. J's Performance. They flow 308@.600 intake and 238@.600exhaust with a 2.05 intake valve. It's going on my 360cu with a Miniram with the EGR an a 280XFI.
So be patient. The Dyno session may happen in June. It will probably be about 5-6 cars with different intakes including the First and HSR.
This is the latest and greatest from FIRST. There are a few changes from the original intake system like the fuel rails and some ports. The longest part of the job was figuring out where all the plumbing was going before we began the install on the car, Dyno Don did an excellent job placing everything for a real clean look.
Also, this being an HEI car, don't plan on having anything behind the distributor with the FIRST, so oil sensors and switches must be relocated.
There were quite a few fitment issues that must be felt with, but all in all, it looks and sounds very strong.
We will get to the Dyno soon and there will be a ton of data to look over with all the projects coming together at the same time. 89TransAm with his TPI system, shorty exhaust, the FIRST system and Vince's new Mini Ram set up.
So many things going on its been hard to get to the Dyno. Don's been swamped and the Dyno was giving us problems a couple of months ago so we cut it short. I need to get on the Dyno with the headers before dropping in the new engine, 355 is going in next month, and we need to WOT tune the FIRST on the 87.
I'm getting impatient but I have to wait on Don and Kevin (the tuner).
I live in CA and just picked up a '89 L98 and have been looking around for basic bolt on parts and these shorties seem like a great product, just wanted to check in and see how things were going and say thanks for still putting in some R&D time on these classics.
No real update for now as the dyno session didn't go well.
The white Corvette had the original fuel pump and it was less than required for this setup. It leaned out real quick so that shut down the testing.
More later as we get to it.
PS it did get to 275/351 whp before it leaned out.
