Default super ram?

Again I have a 89 coupe auto bone stock. Im looking to get the most bang for my Buck. Can I get a super ram setup with 219 cam on my stock bottom or am I better off get tpi system ported with 211 cam. I know ill need a tune but am just lost where to begin or what way to go with this car. Changing the bottom right now isn't in budget or 383 it would be. So what u guys think. Thanks guys

Some may disagree but the Superam and the 211 cam would work good

By the time you buy the aftermarket TPI then port it to breathe youll be in it more $ than a superram.

If you ever go 383 you can port the superram and reuse it.

I agree with Ron. I ran the Super Ram with a mild 260AH cam and had good results. Add some headers to get even more out of it. I'm running an unported SR on my 396 and I don't feel any lack of power. So that's an intake that will work when your budget allows a complete rebuild.

The SuperRam will give you a flat torque curve, great drivablility and will support a good amout of hp for future mods.

I was planning on getting my stock intake and Plenum ported and set of LTR. Just didn't know if ram was going to hurt the performance of my car. I've been under the assumption that RAM setups in general were for higher rev motors but read Vader86 page and he said it would work. This TPI motor is confusing.

I would also get headers and AFR 195. I was told yesterday 180 would be better for stock bottom but I'd love to 383 down the road. Looking to spend now about 5 grand. Exhaust 1500 I figured another 1500 for heads then I'm lost on intake setup. I love original Tpi look but who
doesn't love the look of super
ram. Thanks again for any advice.

The AFR 180's may look better for a stock bottom end. But I found the 195's to work great on a 350 with the Super Ram. The key is that they will also work well with a larger displacement engine. I'm running 195's with the SR on my 396. Vader86 has the identical motor built by the same builder. It's a proven combination.

If your thinking AFr heads I would pm tpi421vette as he has done several forum members well on here. I bought some AFR 195's from him and then paid extra to have them flat milled and with shipping I would have been in the 1500 range.

All TPI based ,long runner intakes :
peak lower and have massive bottom end torque
MR , HSR ,SP intakes for top end ( and a "relative" loss of bottom end )
SR is sort of mid way between the two

Compare the power curves here

Once upon a time I ran all combinations of the above.... my first build was with the original 350 with Accell runners/base with 211 cam, then Superram with 211 cam and then with 219 cam.

The best for acceleration is easily the Superram and 219 combination. As always, when you move your power up into the rpm range, you will want/need to loosen up your converter a little bit. If you're not going to race, a low cost 2400-2600 rpm 12" converter is just fine, if you're wanting to optimize your et's a little bit more, then a 2800-3000 rpm 10" converter would be my recommendation.

With good cylinder heads, you can easily get the combination into the 11's with a little work. PM me if you want additional information.
