A ten year old can do it. Only hard part for me was getting it past the fuel lines just take your time. You'd have to be on crack to take it out through the top.
the think is some times I set out to do a job that look simple , but when you go into. you enconter problems, or some time you need special tool to finish the job, or something you did not imagine .

I think it was the 4+3 OD cooler lines that ran in the way. But you can still work around them, just have to spin the starter around after you get it unbolted to get it OUT. Don't forget to disconnect your battery + cable, first. Unless you like welding with wrenches
On my 86 the ATF lines were in the way but I squeezed it past them. Gravity helps when removing it. You have to work a bit to get past them going back in but it can be done. If replacing, I recommend going back in with a mini starter to make it easy.

It is a tight fit and does not look like it will come out. But once disconnected it will pass thru.

It's a good thought but I don't think we need the pics, there's only 2 bolts and 2 power connections to remove.
I just saying. because I like to see pics on the forum.an I supost the rest of people here like it too. also if I do the job right. some other person can use this post as referance, or DIY.
But if no one want to see pics. them is ok . I will not post pics.
make sure you secure the car safely on jack stands first. disconnect the battery. remove the power connections and the mounting bolts. you may encounter some mounting bolts that are very tight and tuff to turn. If you don't put the new one in right you'll have all kinds of problems with starting.
my starter died some days ago,no cranck...i know there are a lot of smart guys here, but, belive me, everytime i put that beast on jack stands and go underneath...it's a pain i'm always scared that she can ruin over me... even if i know jacks can hold 4 tons...
