Default wire id help

Hello every one .... yes is me again.

2 weeks ago I was working on the maf relay and burn off relay. you know try to connect everything the right way.

I notes there is a loose wire on the engine bay . driver side. the wire is color light orange. is coming out of one of the main wire harnes. (the color of the wire is hard to tell from the picture. but belive me is light orange)

can someone ID this wire and tell me waht it is.

here is a picture of the iwre. is the one to the left with the red tip.

just to help you pin point the location of the wire. I can say the flat surface on the right of the picture . is where the battery go. I will try to upload a new picture from far away. so it make it easy to see the location.

You should go by the color of the wire below the "crimp". I'm not a 100% but it appears to be a "tan" wire with a "black stripe". Given the location I would think that that would be for the EST (timing) circuit - normally there would be a connector in that area that you could disconnect to set the "base" timing for the engine. I bet that is one end of the wire minus the connector - look around that imediate area(s) or peel back the harness covering near that wire as there may be another loose wire (of the same color(s)) there which it was connected to at one point.

the color of the wire is orange. but is dirty. Iam telling you is orange.

If I recall. correctely. not sure on this. I think it was connected to an aftermarket relay. that someone put in for the stero.

again not sure about this

If I recall correctly, the fusible link(s) to cooling fan relay(s) are orange.
Follow the orange backwards and see if it is attached to a red wire from battery.

I looked in that area on my '86 and the only orange wire I see is the wire that supplies power to the ECM. This wire goes through a single pin connector to the positive battery cable. The orange wire is labeled "3" in this picture:

anyway my mother is moving in the next couple of month to my same condo. she have 2 parking spaces also. and only one car. so guest where the corvette is goin.

at that time I will have my vette on my same building. I have to start this car before that happend.

There is also an orange wire that goes to the MAF relays. I don't know what else it could be. There is nothing else in that area.

ok today I took more picure of the wire.also I followthe wire back to see where it end.
the wire go into a main wire harnes. this harnes go to the back of engine. from the driver side. to the passenger side. at this point go to a big wires connectors. located on the passenger side firewall.

can some one can ID this wire now.????

here are the pics
this is the wire at the driver side of engine bay. Orange wire

[IMG][/IMG]

here is where the wire harnes go into firewall at the passenger side.
dificult to see connector. but that isthe area where go in to the firewall.

ALL HOT wires that are "hot all the time" from fusable links are ORANGE.
This wire will go either to the jumper post stack OR it will go into the harness and the end thats missing should go tot he jumper post. ALL FUSED circuits are RED, Non-fused that have a link are ORANGE.

IF you have MAF, 2 relays, power relay has 5 wires, burn-off has 4. Both have orange wire.
Man fan relay on wheel well has orange wire.
The jumper post has a HOT wire from the battery to the post. Then there are all the cabin and control and ECM power supply lines on the jumper post. EACH of these has a fusable link under the battery tray. Remove the battery tray to reveal the mysteries of the fusable links...

Looks to me like it once lived on a cooling fan relay that was eliminated for some reason....probably a direct wire or a switch.

ok I will have to get back to thecar to check this info you just give me. I did fix themaf relay and the burn off. I had the wire diagram and follow it.

Iwas looking at oldpicture. ilook like this cable was connected to a aftermarket rekay use for the stereounit. not sure. the picture is not clear

any way I will check that underthe battery tomorow

There ARE 1 or 2 orange or red wires that run from the jumper post directly to the harness under the booster. Where they go from there...I cannot say. I think one goes to the front for the aux fan and the other ?
I'll have to study the drawing and see if I can tell which is which. Looking at the drawings don;t always help since you can;t tell where a wire is mounted and how it enters the harness.
