As a correlation to my "Buck Banger" thread/poll... while Searching out info here on the forum on gear swaps I ran into a few older threads that mentioned the problem of the Upshift light staying on at cruising speeds after a gear swap (2.59 to 3.07 specifically, but I am sure it happens with other ratio swaps as well).
What I didn't see was a real solution to the problem (but some of these threads were several years old) other than having an custom chip made for the car. This seems kind of drastic (or not?... IDK... how much does it cost to have a custom chip done and how easy/diff is it to install?).
Anyway, was just wondering if there was another easy "quick fix" solution to this problem, or if it is just something that folks "put up with" in order to have the benefit of the better gears?

I have the same problem with my 1990 Vert. I went from 2.73 to 3.54 gears. I changed the drive and driven gearing in the tranny AND the VSS. The VSS that I had was from 34-39 T gearing which was good for the 2.59 and 2.73 gearing. The 3.07 VCC is good for the drive gear from 40-45 T meaning 3.07-3.73 fall into this VSS category. Found one from a forum member and the LITE still goes on....I will pull the bulb down the line but for now when it bothers me; I let off the gas or speed up and it goes away. It goes on for me when Im running at a steady speed for a while only. Normally I just ignore the damn thing.
