Default 280XFI Cam

Anyone here using that cam in their L98 or LT1? If so, what kind of power are you making? Give engine combo please? I have a 358cu with a Miniram with Fully ported TFS heads in a 1990 IROC.

There were extensive studies performed. Due to the effects of global warming (and the associated depletion of oxygen), XFI cams have lost .000001hp.

They also determined that cams with more overlap, lift, and or duration still make more power!

What heads wasn't ported yet? AFR 195 street Eliminators?

Which intake did you like better? The one that got you 10 more HP or the one with 25ft/lbs more torque?

Well I have TFS heads. They were flowed @ 270cfm's. Dr J's Performance has them right now. When he gets through they should flow 295-305cfm's with a 2.05 intake valve(5/16 and more head porting).
17 more HP!
Hp peaked at 5600 with SR and the MR peaked at 6100. With 3.73's the car peak 5600 going through the lights @ 112mph and this is shifting at 5900. No track times with the MR yet but I'm quite sure with the MR it would have at least gave me 114+ at a higher shift point. The car has a T5 Trans and the 60ft was around 1.80's.

what are you expected those TFS to pour to flow 295-305cfm?

did they start life as 195's?

They started life at 258cfm. Very mild porting 268-270cfm. Professional porting will get it those numbers. Ive had these heads for 12 years now.

Sounds good. I bought similar heads about 6 years back.

Back to my question. What do you expect these runners to measure? I was more curious about runner size then cfm numbers.

This is what my old TFS heads flowed: 195 cc head.

.200 lift(intake/exhaust) Trickflow-138/98
.300 lift(intake/exhaust) Trickflow-190/130
.400 lift(intake/exhaust) Trickflow-230/156
.500 lift(intake/exhaust) Trickflow-253/174
.600 lift(intake/exhaust) Trickflow- 260/185

I have no idea. All I know is that Dr. J says he can make them flow -295-305cfm's and the opening of the runner is 2.4x sq inches.

Except he's all hung up on running the 280XFI instead of spending the same $$$ on a cam that'll blow it's doors off.

I reckon them 2 page ads Comp buys in Hot Rod/Car Craft/PHR really do pay off....

I had an 280XFI cam as it was recommended to me before I knew of this and other forums with people who could guide me better.
I made 419 in a 396LT1 with AFR heads, old 195's. But on another dyno it made 405. Same temp, but different dyno same brand and both were SAE.
Tuner can make a helluva difference too.
Who would you recommend for camshafts?
