I have a 91 Corvette base model. The car has been sitting for 3 or 4 years. There was water and rust in tank. I removed tank and replacing filler neck and pump. Tank was cleaned. New parts were delievered, but matching with the old ones, I saw that the Pulsation Damper did not come with new part. Do I need this damper or can I get by without it?
I bought a new fuel level sender assembly and the distance between the pump and the metal tube was too large for the pulsator. I did some research on this and found out that many people replace the pulsator with a piece of fuel line (which is what I did -- can't tell the difference). The problem is that your average auto parts store fuel hose is only designed to have the fuel on the INSIDE and the outside will dissolve in the fuel. You need to get "submersible" fuel line. Prepare for sticker shock -- that's the price for ONE FOOT. This is the stuff:
When I bought mine a couple of years ago, the Gates 27093 was the only one available. It's a couple of dollars more. I suspect the others guys (AC Delco and Dayco) probably get theirs from Gates.

The sending unit I bought came with a hose from the metal line to the fuel pump. I have fuel psi now. I installed an aftermarket fuel filter at the feed line on top of the tank before it goes to the inline filter. Replaced that as well. Have a few more things to do tonight and then we'll see if she starts. Thank for all the comments. They were very helpful.
