I'm going to try to check & pull back the additional floor mat whenever I get in & see if that indeed is the problem. The fact that is so intermittant has my mechanic thinking that is probably the issue.
God, I hope so! Thanks for your suggestions guys!
Tony
Why don't you remove that floor mat and find out if that is the problem? Do you have an emotional attachment to it?

Yes, but I realize cold, heartless people like you, although supremely intelligent, don't have the love & compassion in your hearts to comprehend the bond between a driver & his floormat. I hope some day you will have the right floormat in your life & live happily ever after.
In short...I'm just trying to keep the red carpet clean....that's all. I probably will remove it for testing purposes.
Have you checked the adjustment on the cable from the ASR to the TB? I had a similar problem last week after installing a new throttlebody.
I eventually found that there was too much tension on the throttle cable when the throttle was closed and it would hang open just a bit sometimes. If I tapped the throttle and let go very quickly it would snap shut and idle fine - but, release normally and it would hang open.
I adjusted the ASR cable so it has just the tiniest bit of slack when in the 'closed' position. Solved my problem instantly. It takes 5 seconds to adjust that cable, give it a try.
I'm still in the testing period after removing my much-loved floormat, so I'm going to try one soluion at a time. I am printing this all out, so I have some solutions to present my mechanic with. He too thinks it's(or was) the mat.
My sincere thanks to all & please don't hesitate to present any additional fixes or diagnosis.
