My 1994 corvette has the security and radio thing that keeps the radio playing until the door is opened and now it just keeps playing. I had to pull the radio fuse so door locks dont work now. Where may the problem lie and do I have to go to the dealer for computor hook up? I am selling the car so I hate to put money into it. Thx. KB
I'm gonna toss a thought out there. I noticed this feature on a friends Impala and thought it was absurd. But the more I drove the car the more I got used to how it worked. It seems to me that this feature powers the radio off if you try to exit the car with the radio still on, but you can also shut the radio off manually before you open the door as well. Based on what you're saying I'm gonna assume it's a Bose radio or an equally "junkie" Delco and I'm gonna put my money on it being something inside the radio. When I bought my car, the Blowes radio had an internal draw (the clock didn't shut) that drove the P/O crazy and kept killing his batteries (plural) and the first thing I did was rip all that crap out and change the system (which I'm not saying you should do). The next thing I had to do was plug in everything he had unplugged before he found that problem. Those radios are funny like that and over the years I've seen those radios do funny things to a car.
Take a small rubber mallet and whack the door plungers a couple of times to see if that fixes it.
But don't hit it to hard.
The radio stays on because of a feature called the "delayed bus" which is controlled by the CCM. After the key is turned to the off position, the radio and power windows will continue to work for about 3 minutes or until the door is opened. This is how it is designed to work.
The door switches or plungers need some lubrication and probably are sticking.
Obviously if the light works, the curcuit is completing is course and hitting that pin-switch with a hammer is only gonna send you to the parts store with a new problem Those pin switches have a very thin insulator on them that can crack or break very easy. Over the years I've built very good relations with local shops and salvage yards, see if a local salvage yard will let you borrow a radio to check the problem. Most of these guys are big-time car guys and if you explain the problem and what you wanna do, they may be more then happy to help without you having to buy a radio you may or may not need.

retained accessory power module... or RAP. (wait maybe it was only the ccm on the c4... I cant find a rap for the c4... only the c5 and fbodys)
this is what keeps the power on for 10 mins or until the door is opened. if the intereior lights come on, and the door ajar light comes on when you open the door, then your problem is with this module; ccm; or the radio.
Pulling the radio fuse is not a fix for the problem.
checking the operation of the door plunger is a good place to start if the door ajar or lights do not come on.
beyond that, and you are going to have to do some real troubleshooting.
(and remember, if a hammer doesnt fix it, its an electrical problem (joking))

No. The radio can't run w/o power, and there is something that continues to supply power to the radio after the key is turned off...otherwise, the radio would shut down w/no power like in ALL older cars. The device that maintains power to the radio after the key is turned off for ~10 minutes, or until a door is opened is the...

The Central Control Module AKA Body Control Module in newer cars is where the programming is for the Retained Accessory Power feature. I doubt that the programming has gone awry, and I also highly doubt that switched power for the radio is done inside the CCM. I'm betting that there is a relay that is sticking, or as has been said, a faulty door switch. (BTW, the CCM also controls the interior lighting and only gets it's signal from the door switches).

pull the door plunger and clean with electric parts cleaner, then lube with dielectric grease. exercise the plunger and see if that makes a difference. fixed the same issue on my 93.
