OK Guys heres the low down. I have a 1990 vert with 31000 miles on the clock. Today was the bow tie show in kissismee Fl. So I went while there I paid 40.00 for my car to get 2 pulls on the dyno. My L98 made 192.96 hp with 296 ft. pounds of torque at the wheel. Now I dont know if thats fair for a stock motor or not.Someone chime in and let me know
I think if I would put a 180 t stat in it may bring it up a little. I have a 160 in it now.
Let me tell you today a young guy wanted to put his 87 coupe on the dyno. He told me that he would get 360 hp because he just changed the heads and put a cam in. I said go for it, It may give you some good information from what you built. I told him that mine was stock and I wanted to know if after 22 years mine would be far from factory. So mine went on the dyno and pulled 192.96hp. So I then said your next in line. Then he said that his timing was off and he had a bad valve spring. I said these guys will have the dyno out again. Then the father comes up to look at my screen and said that aint sh-t my sons car will pull 360 hp. I didnt know we were competing. I do remember seeing the father out at another show but I thought he was acting like a jerk because he was drunk, I was wrong because he was the same today and not drunk. Guys correct me if I'm wrong but isn't a dyno used for information only. It was nice today because everybody wanted to see a older corvette on the dyno. I was even ask to join a central florida club.
A Mustang dyno will give lower than a Dynojet. If its a hot sticky day you will get lower numbers than a cold clear day. The operator can even effect the numbers. I would not expect big numbers from a stock L98. Doesnt seem to be a lot of stock ones left either.
Those numbers seem a little low for a stock 1990. Is everything set correctly, timing, fuel pressure, tps? I would expect to see around 225 RWHP on that car.
the numbers may be a little low, Timing, fuel pressure I guess is ok I haven't checked. I think its due to a 160 T stat and the car was still a little cool. I was warming it up just before they put it on the dyno. 1st pull was 141hp 2nd was 165 and the third was 192.96 so as it was getting hot the better it did. I dont know that was my first time. You guys on the forum know better then I do.
I think that I made a big dumb mistake, I'm cleaning my car after the car show and pulled out the air cleaner it was so dirty the car could not get air. so I guess that would mess up the dyno. right. I dont know how it slipped through the crack but it did. all fixed now. But what would that do to my numbers.

Many years ago I had a stock 88 (l98) automatic took it to a dynojet for a dyno day.
I seem to remember 214 (might have been 204 now that I think about it)rwhp after a tune up and switch to synthetic motor oil
I don't recall cutting the air cleaner lid until a year later.
The torque number was close to yours IIRC.
