Power steering problem? (help)
HI everyone- Heres a strange happening that now started with my C4. If I am sitting at a light waiting to make a left turn, I cannot turn the steering wheel anymore from a standstill. Its as if the wheel is locked. But when I move the car forward and then turn it it works fine. What gives?? The PS shows full fluid level and no sign of leak. Thanks in advance!
PS- when I turn the wheel at a standstill and hold it there, I can feel the steering wheel pulsate

I had a similar prob on my '96. Turns out the serpentine belt was slipping on the pump pulley. This was caused, to my surprise, by a leak out the weep hole in the bottom of the water pump. I had been smelling coolant for a while before the pump failed catastrophically and left me stranded. Couldn't figure out where the smell was coming from OR why my steering wheel kept sticking when stopped at a light. I thought my PS pump was going bad. After I put a new pump on my power steering started working perfect again.
Have you been getting any coolant odor lately?

Thanks Dave, i checked my belt and it def seen better days. I did also notice a small drip from the weep hole. But no sign of coolant on the belt. I'll keep it in mind though.
