Default Battery Question

Kind of a dumb question but you gotta consider the source.

On replacement of my 1990 Corvette battery, it appears the easy
way to take it out is to remove a section of the outer body
fender well behind driver side front tire. Just a couple of screws and
then unhook. Is this about it? Thank you.

Yes, you will need a thin 10mm open end to loosen the hidden bolt at bottom back of panel.

See the link for a tutorial, a few extra steps here, but not bad.

The side panel was designed to be removed for this purpose, however after doing it this way once, my preference has been to go in from the top. Removing the the studs that hold square tube brace between the frame and the hood latch and moving it out of the way, then removing the cruise control actuator provide easy access from the top. All bolts are relatively easy to access and the job can be done in about 15 minutes. Just my preference but it avoids messing around with the painted panel and trying to get at that little recessed screw.

ratcheting box end wrench makes quick work of the bottom bolt. Do it last the first time you do it in case you back it out too far to get your box end out you can simply slide the panel out and wind the bolt in with your fingers to free your wrench. You shouldn't get the wrench stuck tho if you only back the bolt out enough to slide the panel.

Leave the side panel alone. I get my Batt in and out by just bending the panel out of the way a little bit, be gentle and out it comes.
