......... I have asked this question before but never got a clear answer ..... Is the base timing included in ... or added to ... the spark advance tables in Tuner Pro when figuring timing curves and total advance ??? ... I also am curious about the upper rpm limit on the table of 4800rpm ....... am I to assume that whatever this level is set at spark advance-wise is what the engine sees to whatever RPM its capable of ?? .......... Thanks in advance to all who would enlighten me .......
The base timing of 6 degrees is a parameter in the EPROM. It can be changed. The timing in the tables is added to that 6 degrees.
That said, it's possible that your software (Tuner Pro) is including the 6 degrees in the value it displays. You'll have to check with the folks at tunerpro.net to find out for sure.
The timing in the table is not added to base. The timing table reflects the base and as long as you set the base timing at the same number as the constant the timing table will be accurate.
The timing table includes the base timing of 6 degrees. The timing at 4800 rpm is what is used at higher rpm.
............. Thank You Sir ............... the guys on the other forum are so evasive anymore ... they toss a few non-answers ... a clue or two ... send you off on an archival search/hunt for the holy grail ... then start to debate hack and code among themselves for the rest of the post ..... Whew! ... OK , I'm done ranting ......... but it seemed an important question ... Thank you for a concise answer ..........
I always set my base timing at 6* and make changes in the prom using tuner pro. The timing in the tables is actual timing, I verified that with a timing light.
