I just got this thing working for about a month and it's stoped again. I checked the fuse and relay and they are ok. I am thinking of trying a fixed unit if I can find one that is hiden or not an eye sore. Any reccomendations? Thanks!

When I got mine it did not work either, pulled it out manually, man is it ugly, just look up Windshield Electronic FM Radio Antenna on ebay. On my mustang years ago I had the antenna hole welded over and put a "intenna"as it was called it was a thin wire with like cellophane tape and hid it all around perimeter of windshield.
If the motor runs but the antenna won't go up and down chances are good that its the ribbon that either broke or teeth are stripped....Get a replacement ribbon , pull the antenna body down , open it up, clean out the old ribbon, replace the ribbon and put some de-electric grease on the new ribbon, replace it, and it should work...I did this to mine and it took about an hour..WW

WOW YOUR GOOD; You got the antenna out of the car, split the body, and installed the new in an hour. what is you removal procedure,i would love to know. i just had to pull ours for the second time. it took me that long to run to the store ,get the beer, pull out the stool, and now i started to work.

Sounds like me If the motor aint workin, it could just be a bad contact at the radio, bust-out the little wire brush and the dialectric grease.

I just did all of this a month ago. I spent a whole weekend on this thing, i.e. new ribbon, cleaned the motor, electic grease, cleaned all connections, new relay and fuses etc. etc.

Is it a Bose radio? Maybe the radio isn't powering-up the antenna out wire. See if you're getting power out of the radio to the antenna. I've found that anything that can happen with those factory radios, does. Open the dash and put a test light to the antenna out wire and see if it powers-up. Or better yet, see if the power is making it to the relay first.

I've done 2 of these so far.. What saves me time is I don't disconnect the wires going to the motor . I let it hang down under the car and work on it..Once I take the screws out of the case I get all the old ribbon out, then when you close it up, install it, then feed the new ribbon in your done..If I had to disconnect all the wires so I could work on it on the "work bench" it would take me much longer..The only wire I have to disconnect to make it hang low enough to get to, is the ground wire ( its been awhile since I've done one, but I think its the ground wire that I disconnect so it will drop down...)......WW
