Default 383 Dyno Results

I had my 93 Corvette dyno'd a couple weeks ago. Thought I would share my results for those that are interested. The first and second pull were almost identical with 34 degrees timing on the first pull and 36 degrees timing on the second pull. Temp was 90 degrees and Air/Fuel ratio was pretty steady around 13.0

Combo:

383, AFR 195 heads, 11.0 compression ratio, Comp Cams Dur 224/230 112lsa approx .510 lift int and exh(Baby Cam), 48mm throttle body, ported lt1 intake, stock airbox with K&N Filter, OBX 1 5/8" long tubes, no cats, lt1 catback exhaust, Accel Gen 7 Computer with wideband, ZF6 with 4.11 rear gears.

Results:

358 rwhp 361 rwtq

Converted to:

401 fwhp 404 fwtq

IMO I wouldn't call that a baby cam more like a good street cam. Nice results .. I bet it's fun to drive.

Yes very fun to drive. Lots of torque all through the rpms. Typical numbers for an lt1 intake with a flat torque curve.

Nice. I suppose Tracey tuned it for you? He is a very good tuner.

I did the tuning myself with some spirited street tuning. Tracy was surprised that I got the Air/Fuel Ratio and timing right on the first go at the dyno. They said the cam is holding me back on the horsepower but thats ok because its just a fun street car anyway.

Good numbers!! I agree that a bit more cam will gain some power, but for a street cruiser thats impressive power. I bet the throttle response is amazing with that cam though!

I am considered "undercammed" in my application as well since I was worried about emissions when I first completed by build. I run the ZZ9 roller with a .483 in lift .523 exhaust lift with similar duration you have with a 112 ls........not going to yield the best hp numbers but it does have terrific throttle response and pulls well into the 6,000rpm range.....

Yes. Driveability and the "fun factor" were important to me. They stopped emission testing here in Kentucky a few years ago but I still like the smaller cams more than the true racing cams.

I was happy to get a clean pull and know that everything is working as advertised. And with a lower lift cam my valvetrain should last longer.

You have 1.6 rockers on it yet? Abit more cam lift on that cam should make another 15 hp IMO. Lift is short and the car is running out of breath up top.

Swap to a 280xfi cam or similar will net you another 50whp and still be pretty driveable
But very nice powerband as it is with that cam. Definately a peppy street driver

Although I'd say you left upwards of 75-100hp on the table. You're not coming close to using the full capability of the AFR heads.

FWIW, mine is 230/236 @ .050, .622/.624 lift, 113 lsa. Idles all day at 800rpm with just a slight chop (if you've been in a C6 Z06, mine has only very slightly more). 23+mpg...6mpg on track days . Slight cam surge if I lug the car under 1200 rpm

Now you have your next upgrade when you're ready to dive back in

Comp XE high lift lobes? or someone else's cam lobes? That is one aggressive cam lobe. You using the AFR 8019 upgrade springs?

I tuned the 280xfi 230/236 .576/.570 113 cam in a buddy's 360" motor and it loped pretty hard. Definately had a racey idle even tho its a 113 lsa cam. Stable in the 775-800 rpm range but bumped around pretty hard. Like the cam but it would be better on a tighter 109-111 lsa. Requires good stiff springs to pull rpm with tho.

It's a CompCam, using their 3100 series Constant Radius of Curvature lobes.

All values are Intake / Exhaust:

Advertised Duration: 282 / 286
Duration @ .050: 230 / 236
Duration @ .200: 157 / 157

Lift: .622 / .624

Intake Centerline: 111

LSA: 113 + 2 degrees advanced

Springs are upgraded from AFR and...going from memory...support .650 lift.

I've been running this combo for nearly 3 years now and it's tame as can be.

Good Torque number. I'm sure it's fun to drive. I also run the Comp Cam XFI280 in my 383 with 195 AFR's

Do you have any dyno numbers on your car? I'm interested to see the low end torque numbers(where I spend 90% of my time) with that cam. Not doubting, just an honest request.

Nice numbers. Bet your enjoying going to the store now.

Have a mild cam in my 396-- Comp Cam 230/236 XE 112 LSA. Believe the lift is 544/555 as I remember. The guy who tuned my LT1, he tunes the fastest LT1's in the country, did not feel more aggressive cams would bring that much more to my set up.
