I am replacing the seat belts in my cars and was wondering if anyone knew where I could buy them from in black?
Also when try to take out the seat belts in there does anyone know what the easiest way to take off the bolts that attach the belts in place? I have not yet really attempted to do it yet but I know I will have to soon.
Also I need to flush the coolant and radiator on the car. Can anyone tell me where the drain plug to the radiator and/or overflow tank is?
Lastly, does anybody know of any corvette sites where I can buy parts that they have taken off of old corvette, as I might be able to find some things that I need.
Drain plug is on the passenger side at the bottom, under the rad hose in a little indentation on the plastic shroud...I have always found it easier to put a pan under the car and pull the bottom hose off...
dont buy new belts, they are super expensive, get a pair from a parts car in good shape then dye them black if they aren't already. The dyes really hold up well if done right. You would never know they werent stock that color.
The torx bit is huge, its like a T50. Drive to the auto parts store and walk in and try the bits out one by one. I cant remember but i think the bottom and top are two different sizes. Checkum both.
The Torx bolts were also coated with a threadlocker. The bolts for the lap belt retractor and the short latch side belt extend slightly out of the nut and the threads are exposed under the car. I would spray some penetrating oil on those exposed threads before trying to remove the bolts. Let is soak for a day, re-spray, and repeat. Once the bolts are out, it might be a good idea to chase the threads to clean out all of the old threadlocker and use a wire brush on the bolt threads.
It's also a good idea to remove the seats before trying to remove the seat belt bolts. You may need a long breaker bar to loosen the bolts. Don't use a socket extension either! The recess in the bolt is not real deep and the Torx socket can easily slip out and damage the bolt head.
There is at least one outfit that will rebuild your belts, to include retractors. Not cheap, $150 per belt if I recall. My belts are in good shape and will try the dye route this summer.
