Re: Has anyone replaced their ignition module? (zelement)
It needs replacing when it won't start. I would suggest replacing it with a Holley Annihilator. (I think JD will back me up on this one) Just make sure you get the GM 7-pin one! :D It seemed like it was worth the money too me. (Of course, when I did this mod, I also upgraded to a FULL Hypertech Ignition, including MSD SC 8.5mm wires and cutback plugs)
Re: Has anyone replaced their ignition module? (TIMSPEED)
Uh HUH!!! I certainly will! I had a misfire that almost drove me in to the loonie bin! I bought a module, coil, cap, rotor, plugs, wires(Everything but the kitchen sink) and had it all done when the intake gasket was replaced. I Love it! Pulls like it should(the cap-rotor we're hypertech along with their coil) and runs quite smoothly. I only replaced mine due to that problem. If I had to do it over again...simply because of the mileage(103K ) I'd do it.
You can't hurt anything...you'll be spicing up your ignition, and that is always a good thing.
Re: Has anyone replaced their ignition module? (corvette0096)
Sometimes a bad module will cause a no-start condition--but sometimes they go bad only when they get up to temp. Take it to AutoZone and have them cycle it on their tester about 12 cycles. It should get nice and toasty and you should be able to be certain if yours is OK. Good luck, -Matt-
Re: Has anyone replaced their ignition module? (zelement)
I had intermittent starting problems....I would get in the car and within half a second....VAHROOOOM. Sometimes however I would crank and crank with no spark and no start. Next time hit the key and VAHROOM again. Finally one night (the night of a big cruise here in Phoenix) NO START. Replaced Mr. Module and not one problem since.
Re: Has anyone replaced their ignition module? (zelement)
Thanks! I appreciate the kind words.
Paul, as you know, ignition and fuel delivery are critical to good performance of the engine. What is the mileage of your current module? Are you experiencing any misfire? It couldn't hurt to change it. I also changed the magnetic pickup in the distributor( I Was leaving NOTHING to chance).
Let me know what you find.
It's partially thanks to you the vette looks soo good! Watch, tomorrow it'll run so well and I won't want to sell it hehe. No chance! It could go 120 and I'd still sell it :D
