Default security and sys flashing

I know that I have read somewhere on the forum about the security and sys flashing 3 times simultaneously every 30 sec. Does anyone know what this means. Also service ASR and service ABS on alot. Any ideas.

I suggest pulling codes on the appropriate modules and see what you get there.

Flashing SYS light could be a low battery, or, a loss of serial communications.
You need to get it scanned, too many options to through money at it.

When does it flash? In the morning only, or while driving to.

Many times and the odds are in your favor that it is probably a tired battery. If it is 3 years old or more the CCM might not like the condition of the battery.

You might try charging it up and see if there is a change.

Had the same exact issue..pulled all codes using a jumper wire in the ALDL...got VATS error. Thought I ran the problem down and spent nearly $300 in the process but still did not solve the issue. Guess what a faulty right door ajar switch was to blame and only cost $22. Now all is well. I'd clean all the connectors with the appropriate cleaner (about $6 a can) and see if that solves it. Sometimes the grime that builds up will cause a malfunction as well. But that's my story.

Ya I am not to sure, I found out that it is FEDS fuel enable data stream. It has something to do with the security system, just wondering if it is possible for this to leave me stranded at some point.

Your going off the deep end into complex areas before you even know what the problem is for sure. Why don’t you try starting at square 1 and the simple things. Take some of the advice early in this thread.

If it was VATS you would not be able to crank the engine. And the ABS and ASR is probably a separate issue as they relate to different systems and computer modules (EBTCM and ECM).

Get the first one fixed, then we will focus on the next.

I had the exact same issue you described last week on my 96....the altenator was bad and caused the battery to die. I replaced the battery and altenator....All good now...

This actually happened the last hour of a 7 hour trip. Got home ok and I noticed nothing unusual while they were flashing, and it has not done it sense. My battery is new and it seems to charge fine also.
