My 93 starts but immediately dies like it is out of gas. The original owner lost the key, I had a new one made with the correct chip, it would roll over but no fire, I replaced the coil and ICM, now it starts but immediately dies. If I continuosly pump the throttle it will run. Replaced the fuel filter and pump but still the same. Any ideas what to try next, could it be the map or throttle postion sensor?

I had the exact same problem and symptoms with my '92 when I first bought it. Problem? Wrong key (resistor chip in the key). Just like yours, the PO had previously had new keys cut...I THINK that he mixed up the old keys w/the new ones.
Anyway, are you getting a flashing "Security" light in the instrument cluster? If so, either you have the wrong key, or your connections from the tumbler to the CCM are bad.
It CAN run as the OP described w/pumping the accellerator pedal, but I forgot a detail; if the issue is w/the resistor pellet, or any wiring thereof, the car shouldn't crank w/the starter. The OP's does. In my situation, I manually grounded my starter relay, then had the "exact symptoms" the OP described.

got it, tom. read your posts. I'm just bouncing my experience off other people. the TPS does not supply fuel; only a voltage signal to ecm. the ccm signals ecm that the key was read, and then ecm supplies fuel once it sees pulses from dist. my grasp of it.
his issue does not appear to be key or vats related. sounds like fuel - a large category of possibiities, including one inj shorted out, tps, maf.

Reason: clarify : "ecm enables the fuel injectors"
