Hi, my name is Karen and I own a 1995 corvette, my baby. Just found out I need distributor. The repair shop told me a price, that I thought was pretty high. Can anyone give me "about a round....cost" to have one replaced. Thank you.
Hi Karen, I just got the same news on my 1994. Disturbing price from Mr. Goodwrench. Started at $2500 for a distributor and water pump then dropped to $1800 using diff parts (still a heart attack lol). Looked at Ecklers in Florida for the part (about $300 hmmm). Well I'll watch this thread with you and maybe someone has a different approach.
All the best,
Tom
Your 95 has the vented type opti. You should be able to get a Delco (GM) part for under $300. You are asking for a problem with a cheap opti (from china). A GM water pump is pricy but a aftermarket pump is about $110 and is OK.
Depending on the parts quoted say 500 and labor of 500 would be a good price of $1000 . Prices will vary from shop to shop (or dealer). Not all shops can do a vette, find one that works on vetts with experience.
Prices can vary a lot especially from a dealer. It depends where your comfort zone is as well as your trust. You don’t always have to pay the most to get a good job. Asking questions and getting the information is best and very helpful.
Always get a price break down of parts and labor and where the parts come from and brand of part.
Personally I thought it might be a fuel problem. The Chevy dealer did a $129 "diagnostic" and all I got for the money was a simple estimate to replace the distributor. I have been looking for someone else in the Boston area w/ Corvette experience. Maybe someone here can give a shout out with a local shop's name.

Be brave. There's about a zillion posts, with pictures, on this forum and others, that take you, step by step, through changing out the opti and water pump. And there's about another zillion on how to change out the seals on the timing chain cover. Good luck
