Default camshaft for l98

I am looking for a camshaft that isnt ULTRA expensive, i found an edelbrock cam http://www.summitracing.com/parts/EDL-2209/ that i was hoping works with stock heads
I know the crank 2032 cam works but man is that sucker expensive, also would an LT1 cam be an upgrade for a 383 with stock runners? If so where can i find a new one?
I was hoping for a cam in the 220 duration area with about .450 lift but i cant find a roller cam with those specs
Any other cam opinions would be great!
heads only have a valve job, stock springs
manifolds with catless exhaust
and 383 kit are the upgrades for now
My stock cam is unusable or else i would throw it back in with 1.6 rockers
thanks!

A 1000 huh

If you arent going to upgrade heads youll need to hang the valve open longer to get the air in/out lift under 500.

It has to smog Ca also?

I'll be looking at the comp
CCA-07-502
Looks like it should be where I want
I'm trying to stay under .510 lift be ause of valve guide issues with the heads. If its around 299 I can buy springs to go with it over the crane cam I chose

As for year being a 1000 > yes this thing is ancient! Haha but yeah this thing has to pass smog and I'm going to try and find something similar to the 2032 because it is smog legal

Keep the duration under 220 (in the 2teens somewhere) wide lobe separation and lift under say 500 youll be fine. Get a good tune on the ecm. Actually more to it than that to selecting but in general..you can jump 8-10 deg larger in duration than the 350 and be Ok most times.

Stock L98 Valve springs won't run that....

IMO Without changing the valve springs he should stick to running the stock cam...

Instead he wants to change it over to flat tappet?? WTF

I was hoping for a cam in the 220 duration area with about .450 lift but i cant find a roller cam with those specs

The reason you can't find a roller in the 220@.050 and under .450 lift is because that cam would really SUCK performance wise.

Your best option is the GM Hot Cam PN 24502586 $205
http://sdparts.com/details/gm-perfor...parts/24502586

There is no reason to pull the entire top end and front of the motor apart and then NOT to buy a $35 set of LT4 valve springs.
http://sdparts.com/details/gm-perfor...parts/12495494

A second cam option would be the ZZ4 cam, PN 10185071 $212
http://sdparts.com/details/gm-perfor...parts/10185071

But your still gonna need the LT4 springs to run it and IMO the Hot cam would out run it.

Never want a flat tappet lol I have seen what those do when they go flat but that is exactly what I was looking for!! I am going with the hot cam and a set of springs
