I was looking for trouble codes and when I put a wire between the A and B pins in the ALDL the radiator fan came on. Is this right? no codes other than 12 though. Any thoughts re the fan?
jumping the ALCL is essentially grounding everything the ECM operates. Since everything is operated or managed by ground paths, NOT hot wires, yes, the fan running is normal.
Great thanks for the info. I can cross that one off the list.I think my problem is the fuel pump,( tho it's only a year old) i'm going to get a pressure gauge to check it soon.It idles some what has NO acceleration, just limps along , if I try to give it gas it dies.

why do you say fuel pump?????????
what evidence do you have?
those symptoms could be almost any control system on the engine. Thats indicative of MAF, clogged cats, bad TPS, fuel filter or strainer...many things.
when you get the gauge you should see 40 psi with key ON...no crank.
then at idle around 35-38 psi. Steady needle. I'm pretty sure thats what you've got. If you had fuel pressure problems it wouldn;t start.
I was thinking fuel pump because of some previous threads by others on the site. Thanks for your thoughts, i'll look into the items you mentioned. Re the MAF there were not any codes in the system so would/could that rule out the MAF? Also TPS? how would I check that? I bought this car new, have had it 25 years and this is the first time with a problem like this, says a lot for GM
