I am wondering what many here figure is the best cat back system for a 95 stock LT1. I hear the Corsa name a lot and I know Borla from my friend's f-body. Which will get me better power? Which will sound better? Or am I missing something even better? I just need a good opinion so I know if I need the $900 or the $1300 to buy my new exhaust.
Corsa has good sound, a little HP gain and no resonance. Good fit and finish too. The Borla has good sound, a little HP gain and plenty of resonance. Your call.
Exhaust sound is subjective. I went with Power Effects so I can adjust the sound to the mood (~$1300). Closed I can sneak up on my cats with them wide open I can set off my neighbors car alarm :D .
I got the B&B Tri-Flo exhaust for a number of reasons:
1. it makes good power:crazy:
2. has a great tone:cool:
3. the resonance isn't anywhere near as bad
as I was told it would be:rolleyes:
4. aggressive 4" oval tips that don't turn black
after a short trip around the block:D
5. the whole system is made up of 3" pipes - cat to
back. Why would you spend all that money
just to put a smaller exhaust on a car that
came 3" from the factory? (I own a '96) :chevy
Like you, I pondered everything for a while. Then I heard somewhere here on the forum that the stock LT1 exhaust is pretty good and the real improvement would come with long tube headers and high flow cats...not a cat-back system. I ended up staying with the stock system but removed the rear mufflers and replaced them with straight pipes with my LT1 tips welded back on. I like the sound and the whole thing cost $125.

Agreed :yesnod: I just diddnt see no sense in replacing the whole exhaust when the mufflers are the main restrection..
Peaple will argue that the design in the cat back wil give more power but i dont see how being that the stock system is straight thru mandrel bent stainless steel piping..
Im sure the power effects sounds nice but why spend all that money on something not stainless steel?
