Relocating the battery.
I'm putting a lighter weight battery in the right rear compartment of my '84, and while looking under the car to determine the cable routing I see a tubular thing (under each compartment).
I initially thought it was a drain vent, but the floor above the tube is solid. What is this thing for? I have an idea what it would work well for, but it's not a performance function, so I would be surprised if Chevrolet went to all the trouble just for that.

Fixture point, huh? I'll confess that certainly wouldn't have popped into my head. I was curious if it was an upper level drain port in case you wanted to submerge your favorite beverages in a bath of ice and cold water. Oh well, learn something everyday.
