I have a '93 LT1 and assume the construction of the various brands shown would be about the same, eg Napa gold series, AMSOIL Ea filter etc. I noticed the AMSOIL EA filter had the least amount of filter media, yet the EA Filter is what the company recommends for upto 25,000 mile oil change with their Signature Series oil.
So now a test using old oil to see how good they filter out dirt and still maintain oil flow?
I'd like to see a cutaway of the Fram Ultra. It's supposed to be one of the best.
Some people are real hard to convince that certain products are crap...After all the work "Jr Rifle Coach" put into this project , and showing us that Fram filters are junk, why would anyone even consider a Fram filter for there car???......WW.

WW7 has just replied to a thread you have subscribed to entitled - Oil Filter Comparison (Condensed Version) - in the C4 Tech/Performance forum of Corvette Forum.
WW7 then DELETEs his post. Maybe because he did a simple google on bobistheoilguy.......................... ..... WW7 is still talking about the cheap Fram, and not the ULTRA.
Here is the message that has just been posted:

Once again, you're all relying on the FRAM bashing of 10-15 years ago.
The FRAM *_ULTRA_* is one of the best Filters on the market today.

And how many filters have you cut apart? Buy a Fram Ultra, cut it apart and show us... or even better show us where car guys on the web are raving about how good they are... Why should be believe what you're saying with no proof, when everyone who has tested Fram filters say they're junk..Also , these tests are recent, not 10 years ago....WW

No , Smart guy , I deleted my post because I wasn't going to keep arguing with you when there were so many posts on the web saying what we have been saying all along...Fram is junk...The video GKK posted above is one of the ones I found but didn't post..If your trying to win a case for Fram, your on the wrong forum..Most of the guys on here dislike Fram from past personal experiences
....
PS ...When I delete something, next time leave it deleted....WW

Take your Fram arguments over to an oil forum, where they research this topic to death. They even weigh the filters, talk about zinc coatings, who is the real manufacturer, and not just slapping a private label sticker on it, like Amsoil.
There is a lot of good information from authoritative sources, who love this topic.
Great post, did you happen to test the anti-drainback on any of the filters? I only ask because mine mounts upside down and I would like it to stay full for start-up.

Thanks. No. Used the L98 as the filter base line.
The comparison was subjective for construction.
I invited anyone to donate their filter/s.
There are a lot of web articles on the subject for different applications.
That's why I stayed to the base line for our 16v SBC motors.
I have personally been running Wix filters for 30 years. Its just my preference.
But, if we run a Fram , Purolator or other brands, and change the filter when we are supposed to, they all will work.
We are just filtering oil here in most cases. If you are getting contaminates in the oil, you have other issues, don't blame the filter. Plus our engines incorporate a bypass valve, so any engine running excessive oil pressure is not really filtered anyway..
If you have an engine failure running a generic 10 minute oil change place filter, its not the filters fault, you have had a catastrophic failure of some kind that no filter could not of prevented.

X2.
Never had an engine fail that could be attributed to an oil filter or brand of oil.

Most haven't. Those that have are relatively rare, and Fram lost some big lawsuits.
Many here will go the extra mile to treat their baby with the best.
This includes pumping premium in an L98, then going cheap on other maintenance items like shocks.
Or my pet peeve is shiny engine compartments and black brake fluid.
