C4 Idiling Problem

C4 Idiling Problem
when you start the car up it goes straight up to redline you have to shut the car off or it will blow the motor please help me here

Have you checked the Throttle cable to make sure its not stuck open?

This may be a good place to start and makes sure the throttle plates are closing.
From the profile it sounds like an 85 with some kind of mod.
Also check the IAC motor for a problem.
