Headers, no cats, true dual to flowmasters. My power curve is flat, does not drop off after 6200, but because I am running an auto, I need all the rpms I can get on the 2-3 shift. I am making 400 at the rear wheels.

The dyno charts are at my son's house I will see. if I can find them. I am getting ready to make a few more pulls to see if the new precision converter and the newly rebuilt 700r make any difference. Look for it in a couple of weeks. And I forgot, crossXovers in the exhaust.

I did sell it last April.Haven't missed it one bit. After 3 motor builds in 2 years I was broke and burned out on it.May get another one one day but not any time soon.My wife is expecting our second child in June so saying money is tight is an understatement.
I still have the dyno sheet in an email if you want to see it for anything shoot me an email.

Mike you deleted the post about not spending money on my car, and taking the family on a vacation. To let you know. I am taking the girls to Disney this year, and I'd never put the car ahead of my family.

The 220's were not out then.....

Take care!

FWIW I am not convinced that the resonators are much of a restriction if any. Here is what I am basing it on. The motor in my signature would run the same times with the factory resonator and then removing it, and installing 2, 3in. bullet cats in its place.
With my current motor, I am running the stock exhaust, including the factory resonator, but I have the magnaflow mufflers, and of course LT headers. Its made 462 rwhp on E85. In time im going to put a pressure guage in the exhaust and see what the backpressure is.
Good luck with your new heads.

Rick I hope you know that post was in no way a shot at you I was merely trying to say leave well enough alone.

If you go bigger heads just go huge and change the cam while you're in there. Change the heads and not the cam and this is just another useless discussion.

The 195s in my case were the l98 series and was a 1205 gasket size, the same as my MR I. In visiting with AFR I would have loved to have the 220s but I would have to have made too many changes to go to the larger 1206 size. I had spent all of the money that I had wanted to spend and elected to stop right there. 400 rwhp is plenty for an old man like me...

I can understand totally. The eliminators had just come out when I blew my previous motor up and tony only said there were plans for bigger in the near future and I just couldn't wait.or at least so I thought (still dont have the car on the road lol! Then there were the trick flows... And I already had the t&ds reprofiled and lightened and missed a free chance at having them setup for different valve spacing. Then I realized running a distributor I didn't even need an ltx block and I could have had a 4.125 block or bigger. I looked at custom blocks and then frowned at having to change the pan.. Accessories .. 15 or 12 degree heads yumm.. Wilson manifold with c5r style lungs over each header..

Where to draw the line?? I built my motor and its staying the way it is until it explodes. I believe if anyone can be happy with what they have they are truly winning.

I think the cam will be enough for the heads Mikey. Time will tell how it performs.....

AFR 220's will work fine with the cam you have. If I was going 7000rpm solid roller, I would probably go with some 235's. These heads will work fine with a 236/242 cam. A 421 can handle some pretty big heads.

I got speier 245's with a csa of 2.72 inch sq on my lil 401 with 9 to 1 comp and twin snails. Drives just as torquey if not more powerful as the old afr 195 heads and smaller cam. Conventional wisdom would have said too big and it will be lazy lol. 400"+ motors breath well, give them some air

Joe sherman posted on another forum that on a 550's hp 406, afr 220's are 20-25 hp better than afr 210's. i am willing to bet you will see about same gains if not 5-10 more, mainly alittle more rpm potential out of that motor. Thats gonna broaden the power curve and make for a faster car.

No problem skinny. I doubt youll see me putting in a cam anytime soon. 236/242 isnt exactly small,small......Jim has built more 421's then all the C4 guys on this site. I have a feeling it will run hard and waste M3's towing a trailer or not. Let me know when you get that blue car back together.
